Myron Alexander, Founder & Co-CEO

Experience

Myron is the Founder and Co-CEO of OWARECO, LLC, where he leads the company’s vision for sustainable organic waste management solutions. With two and a half decades of dedicated service in Human Services, Education Counseling, and Education Administration with New York State Independent School Districts and State Residential Care Organizations, Myron brings a unique perspective on community-centered problem-solving.

For over 10 years, Myron has focused his research efforts on emerging green technology companies, establishing collaborative partnerships with leading academic research institutions including Rochester Institute of Technology, the Wrigley Institute of Environment and Sustainability, and The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute. Through these partnerships, he has driven innovation in waste management technology and secured groundbreaking pilot studies that have advanced the field.

As Founder of OWARECO in 2013, Myron has built strategic business development partnerships with River Road Research, Stratium USA, Ecovim USA, and Cinterest. His leadership has positioned OWARECO at the forefront of organic waste reduction and conversion technology. Myron has successfully secured research studies for innovation in waste management technology with the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute and proof-of-concept pilot studies with the Wrigley Institute. His advocacy work includes providing testimony to NYS Standing Committees on Higher Education and Conservation, and securing support from members of the U.S. Senate and Congress for OWARECO’s sustainable waste management initiatives.

Hiram Matthews, Co-CEO & CFO

Experience

Hiram is responsible for OWARECO, LLC’s business and financial strategy. Hiram has enjoyed a successful career as a C-Suite executive on Wall Street, building and managing Capital Markets businesses. He has been an active member of the global senior management leadership team at several of the world’s largest financial services companies, driving their strategic direction, growth, and performance.

During his career on Wall Street, Hiram has raised billions of dollars in ESG capital for multinational companies to finance innovative sustainability-based projects. Likewise, Hiram has established strong relationships with many of the largest global investors to expand investments in ESG sustainability projects worldwide.

As Head of Finance and Strategy at OWARECO, LLC, Hiram has focused on expanding the company’s technologies and services, corporate partnerships, and product upcycling capabilities, supported with cutting-edge empirical scientific research. As a result of OWARECO’s leadership team’s work, the company is uniquely positioned to address any organic waste challenge globally.

Karim McLean, Director of Business Development

Experience

Karim serves as Director of Business Development for OWARECO, LLC, where he applies over 26 years of experience in banking to drive sustainable and profitable growth. Throughout his distinguished career, Karim has specialized in managing risk through delivery of strategic projects in sustainable business, business transformation, and operational resilience.

Prior to joining OWARECO in January 2025, Karim held senior leadership positions at Lloyds Banking Group, including Director of Sustainable Business & Operational Resilience (2022-2024), where he served as Chairman of the Sustainable Business Committee and Secretary of the ESG Committee. His earlier roles at Lloyds Banking Group included Project Manager for Business Transformation (2017-2021), SVP Portfolio Management (2014-2016), and SVP Strategy & Performance (2010-2014). He also served as Director of Corporate Finance at Bank of Scotland (2007-2010).

Throughout his career, Karim has demonstrated exceptional ability to implement client strategies that led to higher returns for overall portfolios and new business development. His expertise in sustainable business practices, combined with his deep understanding of financial operations and strategic planning, positions him to lead OWARECO’s business development initiatives and expand the company’s market presence in the circular economy sector.
